I am really excited to share that I will be exhibiting my monotype prints in an upcoming printmaking show at the Newburyport Art Association. You may not know this, but printmaking is my first art-love. I studied photography and printmaking in college and after college worked in a public print studio in Somerville called Mix-It. When I moved away and had kids, I stopped working with toxic media and for a little while the art making was on hold altogether. Most recently I have gotten back into printmaking through the gelli plate, a method that makes printmaking easy to do anywhere with no toxic acids, waxes, and such required. Work in this show is printed in a collage method, that uses the gelli plate, handmade stamps, and stencils. A few pieces have collaged sheet music in the background as well.
Making an Impression: 15th Annual NAA Printmakers Show will be on view August 14-26 with an opening reception on August 18, 6-8pm You will be amazed at the talent of the artists in this show; I'm honored to be a part of it! Other artists include Barbara Nachmias-Kedesdy, Mary Arthur Pollak, R. Leopoldina Torres, Mary Carolyn Webber, Muriel Angelil, Patty deGranpre, Joanne F. Desmond, Susan Dosick, Marica Herson, and Kate Higley.
If you are in the Newburyport area for the opening on the 18th, please stop by and say hello!
