Gelli Printing at Essex Art Center in Lawrence - 3 class session

Iā€™m teaching a three-session class (three Thursday mornings 10am-12:30pm) on the Gelli Plate at Essex Art Center this Spring. This is a great art center that offers classes for all ages on a range of topics. Also, for me, this is the first multi-session class I will be offering. In this class we will have time to go deeper with the Gelli plate and explore how to make it work for you.

Class Description: Gelli Plate is a gelatin-based printing plate that is very easy and fun to work with, requiring just a few tools and supplies. Beginners and experienced artists can enjoy experimenting with a wide range of techniques when printing with the Gelli Plate. The focus of this class will be to experiment with methods for making patterns using the plate. Students will leave with a good understanding of how to use their Gelli Plates at home as well as ideas on what to do with all of their Gelli prints!

CLASS FULL - Intro to Gelli Printing

I am offering a four-class series at NAA and this is the first of the four. You can attend just this one, or any mix of the four classes.

A Gelli plate is a gelatin-based printing plate that is very easy to work with and requires limited tools and supplies. It is a fun tool to make a stack of collage papers or even monotypes suitable for framing. Beginners and experienced artists can enjoy the range of techniques available when printing with the Gelli Plate.

The focus of this class will be to experiment with mark making, resist exercises, and other methods for making patterns using the plate. We will learn about the materials and then spend some time working on our gelli plates. We will talk about what you can do with all of your gelli prints too! Students will leave with some prints as well as a good understanding of how to have fun using their Gelli Plates at home.   Registered students will receive a supply list of items to bring to the workshop.
